If you're passionate about ecological restoration and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment, Enviro Care is the place to build your career with the best in the industry. We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our financial operations in our mid-sized service-based organization. In this key role, reporting directly to the CEO, you'll wear multiple hats to ensure financial stability, support strategic growth, and optimize our variable revenue streams from client contracts and emergency services. This position is ideal for a financial leader who understands the unique challenges of small to medium-sized businesses, such as navigating cash flow fluctuations from billable hours and project-based work, implementing cost controls without stifling agility, and leveraging limited resources for maximum efficiency - insights only gained through direct involvement in SMB ownership or executive leadership.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee financial reporting and accounting operations, including preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, managing day-to-day accounting processes, and leading a small team (3-5 staff) in a service-oriented environment focused on revenue recognition from contracts and projects. Develop and manage annual budgets for our $15M revenue stream, create financial forecasts emphasizing billable utilization rates, and monitor performance to identify cost-saving opportunities, such as reducing overhead by 10-15%. Optimize cash flow management, including working capital, banking relationships, and ensuring liquidity for payroll, vendor payments, and variable client invoice cycles typical in emergency response services. Ensure compliance and risk management by adhering to financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls; coordinate external audits; and mitigate risks like revenue leakage from unbilled services in our fast-paced field operations. Provide team leadership and strategic support by hiring, training, and supervising accounting staff; offering financial insights to executive leadership; and contributing to decisions on service pricing, client portfolio expansion, and growth initiatives in the environmental sector.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or similar role in a service-based business. Proven ownership or leadership background in small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), where you've handled multifaceted financial challenges like variable service revenues, tight cash management during seasonal demands, and scaling operations without large corporate resources. Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition in service industries, and experience with ERP systems or automated financial tools. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to thrive in an employee-driven team atmosphere. Passion for environmental services and a commitment to safety and sustainability. What We Offer:
A great benefit package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development. The chance to work for a top-tier company restoring environments and protecting communities.Compensation:
