Kennel - Assistant Manager

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Manager (Key Holder) to join our team. As assistant Manager, you will play a vital role in providing excellent care and support for our furry friends. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who have a passion for animals and want to make a difference in their lives. This position is directly responsible for day-to-day operations when the General Manager is not on shift. When the General Manager is on shift, this position reports to the GM, but also offers assistance as needed in directing the rest of the kennel staff, while performing daily kennel and administrative tasks.

Duties:

• Answering phones, checking in clients and their pets, using our pet software Gingr, doing social media posts of photos of the dogs and activities.
• Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel
• Feed, water, and administer medications as directed by veterinary instructions
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
• Exercise and socialize animals to promote their physical and mental well-being
• Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
• Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns or changes to the Manager
• Assist with animal restraint during examinations or procedures
• Maintain accurate records of animal care, medications, and activities
• Provide exceptional customer service to pet owners

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with animals in a kennel or veterinary setting is strongly preferred
• Knowledge of animal care practices, including feeding, grooming, and basic medical procedures
• Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and staff
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
