Job Description

Kennel Technician - Animal Care Team Position Overview The Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and hardworking Kennel Technician to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the daily care, health, and overall well-being of the animals in our shelter. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of animals. Key Responsibilities Provide daily care and supervision for all animals within the kennel facility Feed, water, and exercise animals according to individualized care plans Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, and common areas Monitor animal health and behavior, promptly reporting any concerns to management or veterinary staff Assist with basic grooming, including bathing, brushing, and nail trimming Safely and humanely handle animals at all times, using proper restraint techniques when necessary Support basic obedience training and socialization efforts to improve adoptability Ensure accurate recordkeeping of daily care, feeding, and observations Assist with animal movement, intake, and preparation for adoption or transport Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience working with animals preferred (shelter, kennel, or veterinary setting) Working knowledge of dog behavior, handling techniques, and basic training principles Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with the public and adopters Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Veterinary technician or assistant certification is a plus, but not required What We're Looking For A team player with a strong work ethic Compassionate individuals dedicated to animal welfare Someone who can stay calm under pressure and handle emotionally challenging situations A positive attitude and willingness to learn Why Join HSCCL?
