Job Description
Overview (PLEASE READ) Join our dynamic team here at Starwood Pet Resort ! We are looking for a passionate animal lover who wants to turn that love into a career. This position starts part-time, with the potential to grow into a full-time role by spring for the right candidate. Starwood is a fast-growing company seeking team members who are dedicated, energetic, reliable, and—most importantly—eager to learn from our experienced staff. As a Kennel Technician and Doggie Daycare Attendant , you will provide exceptional care, ensure the safety and well-being of our furry guests, and help maintain a fun, positive, and engaging environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to build hands-on experience in animal handling, pet care, and customer service while working in a vibrant setting focused on the happiness and health of pets. All candidates are expected to carefully read the full job description before applying. Weekends are required! This position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments . Starwood's interview process is a two-part process , which includes an in-person interview followed by a one-hour working interview . Responsibilities Provide attentive care for dogs in kennel and daycare settings, ensuring their safety, comfort, and happiness throughout their stay Assist with dog training activities to promote good behavior and socialization Handle animals with gentle restraint techniques during feeding, grooming, or veterinary procedures Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards Monitor pets for signs of stress or illness and communicate observations to management or veterinary staff Support pet grooming, bathing, or basic veterinary assistance as needed Engage with pet owners through friendly communication, updating them on their pets' well-being and answering questions Answering phones, taking reservations Qualifications Prior experience in kennel work, pet sitting, or animal handling is highly preferred Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary procedures is a plus Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments Experience with pet grooming or veterinary assisting is desirable Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to move supplies or assist with animals Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude Willingness to learn new skills related to pet care and animal behavior management. Computer Skills is a required. This role is perfect for motivated individuals who love working with animals and want to grow their expertise in a lively environment.
