Job Description

Responsible for preparing and serving nutritious and attractive meals to the guests of the Carmelite Spiritual Center. Assist in serving, cleaning and resetting dining room after guests are done. Cleanliness in the dining room and kitchen areas are stressed, as well as friendly and courteous behavior toward our guests. Must be able to handle several tasks at once. General working kitchen conditions with some lifting but not over 30 lbs. Flexible work hours but could include between 7:30AM-7:30PM and weekend hours as well. Part time or full time available but hours can vary depending on the traffic at the Center. Responsibilities and Duties Make sure meals are prepared properly and served on time. Make sure kitchen, serving and dining areas are clean. Put leftover food away. Clean dining room tables and reset for next meal. Restock salt, pepper, sugars as needed. Serve and be courteous and polite to all guests. Serve them with a smile. Vacuum after every meal. Clean glass doors in dining room. Remove garbage from dining room and kitchen. Refill coffee pots, be sure guests' needs are taken care of at serving time. Wash dishes and put away. Refill and take supplies to meeting rooms and dining rooms for coffee stations. Mop kitchen floors. Qualifications and Skills Excellent organizational skills, with a professional attitude, appearance and behavior. Friendly demeanor to assist our guests. Able to problem solve, and have a rational judgment on unexpected requests. Ability to effectively communicate with guests, staff and supervisory personnel. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and the highest ethical standards. High school graduate or equivalent. Pleasant manner. A mature approach to the job responsibilities, including: honesty, a positive attitude, and a neat appearance. Human relations skills to deal effectively with guests in person. Ability to work independently and effectively manage time. Ability and willingness to work with others as a team player
