Lab Assistant
III COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Unio Health Partners (UHP) is a highly differentiated physician practice management platform with the goal of transforming care delivery across the Western United States. UHP partners with leading physician practices, creating a cohesive, quality-oriented clinical culture and facilitating best practice sharing across the platform. Our affiliated practices gain access to a broader suite of services, providing a meaningful benefit to both physicians and patients. UHP's best-in-class clinical program covers three sub-specialties (urology, gastroenterology, and radiation oncology) and offers numerous ancillary services, including pathology lab, in-office dispensing, and chronic care management. We are led by a highly accomplished management team and provide a full suite of management services to its affiliated practices. UHP is currently affiliated with 182 providers consisting of 119 physicians and 63 advanced practice providers operating out of 54 locations across Southern, Central, and Northern California.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Laboratory Assistant III is a senior-level position within the laboratory, responsible for performing advanced laboratory tasks and providing critical support to researchers, scientists, pathologist, and other professional personnel in some phases of the technical laboratory work. This role involves preparing different reagents, solutions and culture media used in the laboratory tests; complex laboratory procedures, perform gross analysis of surgical specimen types, data analysis, and maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment What you will be doing
Advanced Laboratory Procedures:
Conduct advanced laboratory tests, dissect and description on any type of surgical specimens, small biopsies, and staining, embedding and procedures with minimal supervision. Demonstrate proficiency in specialized techniques and methodologies relevant to the laboratory's field, including working with different reagents being used for tissue processing.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex laboratory instruments and equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve instrument issues and malfunctions.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze and interpret experimental data and results, providing detailed reports to researchers and scientists. Collaborate in data analysis and contribute to research findings.
Sample Handling and Processing:
Handle and process sensitive and high-value samples, ensuring proper preservation and storage. Prepare samples for complex analyses and experiments.
Inventory Management:
Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, chemicals, and equipment inventory. Assist in budget planning and procurement of specialized materials.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce and ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards. Contribute to the development and updating of safety guidelines.
Training and Mentorship:
Train and mentor junior lab assistants and provide guidance on laboratory techniques and procedures. Assist in the onboarding of new laboratory staff.
Research Collaboration:
Collaborate with researchers and scientists on the planning and execution of experiments, data collection, and analysis. Participate in research projects and contribute to study design.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory spaces and equipment. Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration tasks. What you will bring to the team Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or related discipline. Significant laboratory experience, preferably in anatomical pathology or specialized laboratory environment. 3-6 years of relevant laboratory experience, proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques and procedures Commitment to safety and compliance with laboratory regulations. Knowledge of current blood borne pathogen and bio-hazardous waste procedures as they apply to the duties of this position.
