Job Description

Job Location:
Robinson, IL Hourly Rate:
$28.25 The Backup Lab Tech will:
  • Log daily micro and analytical samples to be tested in the Robinson Micro lab.
  • Log Environmental Micro Monitoring Program (EMMP) samples into the database. Perform routine and non-routine swabs generated by the EMMP program.
  • Prepare media
  • Manage the Allergen Verification program by monitoring production schedules, collecting samples, logging them, and submitting them for analysis in partnership with QA Specialists and Line Supervision.
  • Preparing and shipping samples to external labs as needed.
  • Serve as Relief Technician for Micro lab as needed.
  • Keep inventory and replenish expendable lab supplies in an economically prudent manner.
  • Perform and maintain records of all quality testing in the micro lab.
  • Perform and record all laboratory daily checks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain laboratory and equipment in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
  • Support
ISO 17025
accreditation and maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of plant.
  • Weekend work may be required
Skills and Minimum Requirements:
  • Knowledge in HACCP, Microbiology, EMMP, Lab Testing Methods and/or Quality Systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint); familiarity with LIMS is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership mindset with strong work ethic, integrity, and character.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Successfully completed probationary period.
  • Must not be in any active stage of discipline.
Physical Demands:
  • Light to moderate physical activity required; ability to lift 35-50 pounds.
  • Work around operating equipment; stand, reach, stoop, crawl, bend, and climb ladders.
