Laboratory Assistant Job Description Join our team as a Specimen Processing Specialist/Lab Assistant to support our consumer genetics group during its peak season and contribute to a special project. You will be part of a team dedicated to helping people discover their ancestry and understand their genetic health risks. Responsibilities Receive, stage, and aliquot specimens for testing. Perform required quality control and assurance duties, including error detection, maintaining records/logs, and pulling samples for rework. Essential Skills Specimen collection Patient information handling Inventory management Labelling Specimen processing Data entry Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in specimen processing, accessioning, and sample preparation. Proficiency in pipetting and data entry. Knowledge of chemistry and biology. An associate or bachelor's degree in a science-related field is preferred but not required. Prior lab experience is a plus but not mandatory. Work Environment You will work in a lab setting, handling tasks such as discarding old samples and pulling samples to be shipped off to another biobank. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Gibsonville, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $17.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
