Purpose Execute technical activities required on assigned projects and apply landscape architecture technical policies and procedures in a land development environment. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction
  • Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution.
Receive direction as needed, and especially on highly complex assignments. Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • Position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but will serve as a lead/resource among team of colleagues in equivalent roles to share technical proficiency, guidance, and mentorship. May occasionally assist in delegation of assignments or provide feedback to managers. At the Operational and Company Level
  • Work closely with senior staff members to perform landscape architecture work.
  • Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships. Do the Work
  • Lead in the execution of landscape architectural design on assigned projects within a multidisciplinary collaborative setting.
  • Provide leadership in project design, production, and management.
  • Design strategies to address client budgets and needs.
  • Direct the execution of landscape architectural design processes on assigned projects.
  • Prepare hardscape and landscape plans for urban settings, streetscapes, parks and recreation, etc., including entitlement, site plan and construction documents.
  • Perform plant inventory and evaluations.
  • Support engineering projects and provide state and local permitting assistance.
  • Carry out technical and administrative assignments, tabulations, cost estimates, etc.
  • Consult with clients, engineers, and architects on specifications and needs of overall projects.
  • Perform onsite landscape inspections during site evaluations and construction and coordinating design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Conduct code research, write specifications, and coordinate permitting.
  • Present design projects to required legislative bodies or municipality commissions.
  • Review proposed design change orders and make recommendations as needed.
  • Utilize and assist less experienced staff in understanding technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and permitting requirements.
  • Assist in assembling Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documents (CD) and reviewing jurisdiction submittal packages. Success Metrics and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, or related field; or commensurate relevant work experience in landscape design.
  • Master's degree a plus.
  • Seven or more (7+) direct professional experience working within a landscape architecture studio/office through all phases of design managing/leading projects of various scales and complexity.
  • Landscape Architect Registration preferred or pending completion within 6 months.
  • Appreciation and understanding of land development process and desire to contribute in design of housing, commercial, mixed use and industrial site plans and work directly with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in production of Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documents (CD) including site details, materials and layout selection, and planting design; irrigation design a plus.
  • Development of design concepts and preparation of presentation-quality graphics and illustrations.
  • Preparation of detailed construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Construction oversight/administration, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and observation of the contractor's work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to direct junior staff members.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing scopes of work, schedules, and budgets and tracking them through project completion.
