Job Description

Large Press Set-Up Operator III
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Reading Blueprints:
    Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Setting up and operating press: Expertly and efficiently set up and operate presses to ensure quality and maximum production.
Able to set all types of complex tooling such as draws, forms, progressives, etc. Strong understanding of job routings and instructions. Able to conduct root cause analysis on die or press issues. Able to coordinate with tool room and/or maintenance for repair issues. Able to recommend process improvements for efficiency and quality. Strong knowledge of dispatch display to determine which jobs to set up next. Stage all required materials so the operator can begin production without delay.
  • Precision measuring: Proficiently use tools like calipers, micrometers, and tape measure to confirm material specifications.
  • Maintenance:
    Maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform routine mechanic maintenance.
  • Quality control: Perform inspections for material defects to ensure materials meet quality standards and specifications. Identify materials using tags or labels.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Follow all established safety procedures and compliance guidelines
  • Collaboration:
    Work collaboratively with team members to ensure delivery deadlines are met. Train and mentor Level I and II Set-Up Operators.
  • Record Keeping:
    Identify, capture and record work instructions required to ensure job operations are set up and run correctly and consistently. Ensure all data entered in company data collection system is accurate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Technical skills: Mastery of all types of setups. Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to conduct quality inspections and identify defects or inconsistencies.
  • Problem-solving:
    Performing complex troubleshooting independently and addressing issues that arise during the pressing process.
  • Communication:
    Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and other departments.
  • Time Management:
    Efficiently manage time to meet production deadlines.
Safety Awareness:
Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 2 plus years experience in metal fabrication or related work.
Press operation preferred.

  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus over long shifts.
  • The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
