Job Description

Perform admission and discharge functions for the Animal Control Shelter. Serve as primary contact for all customers. Create marketing advertisements and posts to be used on social media.

SCHEDULE
Four days per week, 10 hour days, Schedule Subject to Shift Bid 1. Perform adoptions, redemptions and other transactions, and process paperwork associated with animals in the shelter, with attention to detail and customer service. 2. Answer phones calls, emails and walk-ins regarding shelter policies, lost and found animals, animal availability, and other office information. 3. Responsible for accurately maintaining a variety of records, various logs and other documentation. 4. Receive and record cash payments for adoptions and redemptions of animals, and other Division cash transactions. Balance cash drawer daily. 5. Market animals for adoption and assist with public information coordination which may include social media. 6. Research animal ownership using microchip and ID tag databases and other resources. 7. Represent Animal Control during community outreach events. 8. Perform minor janitorial responsibilities. 9. Create marketing advertisements and posts to be used on social media.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of general office experience of which one year must be working with the public; multi-function phone experience preferred. 2. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer using a variety of computer programs (MS Publisher and Adobe Photoshop required; MS Word, Excel, MS Power Point, Adobe Pro and electronic databases preferred). Ability to type at a proficient level. Ability to operate a variety of office machines (copier, scanner, fax, multi-function phone, printers, etc.). Ability to operate a 2-way radio preferred. 3. Experience with cash handling.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing. 2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and courteously under stressful, highly emotional situations with the general public, other organizations/agencies, and other employees. 3. Ability to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions. 4. Ability to multi-task, remain organized and work in a fast-paced environment. 5. Ability to create posts on Fairbanks North Star Borough social media.
