Use the Job ID based on the Position Location as follows Location Job ID 7100 Belvedere Road, WPB 35426 Working as part of a small but highly productive and motivated Rescue and Foster Team, the Rescue Coordinator performs essential tasks to assist in finding alternative placement for animals who cannot otherwise be adopted by the public. Works closely with all sections of our dedicated staff, as well as our passionate volunteers, and creates comprehensive medical and behavior profiles for animals in need of placement to be shared with our placement partners. Acts as the bridge between the shelter, our rescue partners, and the community, and plays a vital role in ensuring these animals find their path out of the shelter, into alternate care, and ultimately a loving home. Responds to emails, text messages, and phone calls, and works hard to find appropriate placement with our partner organizations and ensures the smooth transition for animals from our shelter to their care. The Rescue Coordinator plays a key role in developing and maintaining great relationships with our community partners, animal advocates, and members of the public, communicating openly, transparently, and respectfully. The role also involves fostering new relationships with potential partners to create new pathways from the shelter for more animals and spearheading the organization of and overseeing the successful transport of multiple animals at a time to partner organizations. The Rescue Coordinator will have a love for animals and an unwavering commitment to their well-being, and needs to have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emotionally difficult situations, have knowledge of animal behavior and care standards, have outstanding communication skills (email, phone and in-person), have great organization, time-keeping and multi-tasking talents, and be a team player, working collaboratively with the rest of our amazing shelter staff, adapting to new challenges quickly.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following: Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of six (6) months of experience in the caring and handling of animals in a personal or work capacity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include: Six (6) months of experience working in a large animal shelter kennel for dogs and cats, Experience working with rescue organizations, animal shelters, or other animal advocacy groups, Proficiency in the use of general office software (Microsoft Office Suite, emails, etc.), and Familiarity with animal welfare standards and County ordinances.
