DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to provide care for the horses of the Lexington Police Department's Mounted Patrol and to maintain the equine facilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED equivalent One (1) year of related experience Years of related education may substitute for years of related experience Years of related experience may substitute for years of education Partial years of credit may be granted for every 15 credit hours of education in an unrelated field
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cleans barn, stalls and office areas Provides horses and other animals with food, water, supplements and medications Monitors inventories of hay, feed, bedding and other items Grooms horses Maintains facilities and pastures, mows, weeds, collects trash, fixes fences, etc. Maintains arena, drags and waters arena footing, sets up obstacles, etc. Notifies sergeant of maintenance issues, necessary ordering of material and health issues of the horses Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All positions require drug testing, background investigation, polygraph and a post-job of offer physical exam.
