Community Animal Welfare Agent MSPCA-Angell - 3.7 Boston, MA Job Details Full-time $26 - $28 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Free parking Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Employee discount 403(b) Life insurance Qualifications Outdoor work experience Driver's License Driving Full Job Description This is a full time 40 hour per week position, Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. Nights and Weekend hours may be required from time to time. This position is located at our Boston Headquarters.
THE POSITION
The Community Animal Welfare Agent will work alongside MSPCA Law Enforcement Officers and our Animal Care and Adoption Center staff to respond to the needs of animals and people. This position is a blend of field, dispatch, and office work; responding to inquiries from concerned citizens and animal professionals. The primary responsibilities of the Community Animal Welfare Agent will include responding to animal welfare concerns and offering proactive assistance in an effort to support community members and their pets. This position focuses on providing resources, education, and support to pet owners facing challenges. The Community Animal Welfare Agent will also provide support to MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement Officers. Support will include assisting during search warrants, field operations, and animal handling in the field. The position works collaboratively across the Animal Protection Division departments which includes the MSPCA four adoption centers, community clinics, advocacy, and community outreach teams. This position is based out of our Boston Headquarters and will involve field work throughout Massachusetts. Some Duties to
Include:
Act as a positive role model by demonstrating MSPCA-Angell organizational values with a focus on creating a culture of empathy and prevention of cruelty through the provision of access to resources and information. Respond to animal welfare calls and conduct welfare checks. Assist MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement Officers in the field as needed. Collaborate across all areas of the Animal Protection Division to enhance interdepartmental communication and coordination, ensuring effective execution of APD initiatives and cross departmental projects. Assist with answering the MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement phones and emails and triage incoming calls and service requests.
COMPENSATION
This is an hourly position starting at $26-$28/hr.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for applicants with at least two years of experience with animal handling or animal care working in a professional setting. An ideal candidate will have the knowledge and ability to handle, restrain, and transport commonly encountered animals.
Some additional requirements are:
Able to maintain a judgment free conversation The ability to lift 50+lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time, ability to sit for long periods of time, able to frequently bend, squat or stoop as needed. A valid driver's license with a safe driving history. Successful completion of a state and national background check. Comfortable with driving long distances in varying weather conditions. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus!
