JOB SUMMARY

An employee of the City required to perform all the commonly understood duties of an Animal Control Supervisor. The position is more specifically defined as a fulltime exempt employee enforcing local ordinances and/or Texas Department of Health Rules, under the Texas Department of Health Bureau of Veterinary Public Health, Animal Shelter Rules Section 169.62. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily activities of animal control officers to ensure efficient response to calls involving stray, injured, or aggressive animals. Oversee the enforcement of local ordinances related to animal licensing, leash laws, and cruelty prevention. Conduct investigations into animal-related complaints and incidents, including evidence collection and report writing in compliance with procedural law. Supervises and directs operations at the City Animal Shelter; will assist in cleaning and maintaining the shelter; will remain at the shelter for receiving and releasing animals. This position attends after hours Council meetings to present Animal Control information and respond to questions. Testify as an expert witness in legal proceedings. Responsible for all funds taken in at the shelter and maintaining records for budget purposes; for making decision regarding the fate of any animal picked up or any animal impounded at the shelter. Will supervise the euthanasia of animals; may be required to make after hours' calls regarding pickup of injured and sick animals or dog bite cases; will report to Chief of Police as immediate supervisor. Requirements Regular and consistent attendance in a workplace environment. Must be able to work shifts including evenings, weekends and all holidays as well as respond to off-hour calls. (Occasional) Thorough knowledge of City ordinances related to Animal Control Strong leadership skills demonstrated through previous supervisory roles; capable of managing a team effectively under pressure. Extensive knowledge of animal handling techniques combined with familiarity in animal care practices. Ability to operate standard passenger vehicles safely; valid driver's license required along with experience in driving in various conditions. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Valid TX Driver's License or available alternate means of transportation.

Experience:

Pay:

$52,009.00 - $72,813.00 per year
