Description:
The AR is a compassionate animal lover and team-player who has solid customer services skills, good attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks. They need to be comfortable handling animals of all breed mixes and sizes and have excellent communication skills. The Adoption representatives work under the supervision of the Adoption and Assistant Adoption Managers.
Primary responsibilities include:
Provides kennel cleaning support for all animal types including cats/kittens, dogs/puppies, small animals, birds, livestock, and reptiles. Perform adoption counsels, reviews animal records and completes paperwork to process adopted animals out. Perform meet and greets between resident dogs and adoptable dogs, ensuring that the home is a good fit. Confidently and thoroughly explain animal behavior to adopters, training techniques, and management of each animals' specific needs to set them up for success in a new home. Processing all transactions, including adoptions, inventory sales, and licenses. Maintain accurate receipt integrity. Knowledge of in care animals and ability to communicate that knowledge in a positive manner. Respond to email and phone inquiries from the public. Promoting adoptable pets, including writing bios, taking photos and videos, making promotional posters and other displays. Maintain a professional, inclusive environment, greet all clients, and answer any inquires. Administer vaccines, microchips and other treatments for animals in the care of KHS Handle animals of all breeds, ages, sizes, and temperaments. While most interactions are with dogs and cats, staff must be comfortable interacting with all animals, including livestock, fowl, small animals, reptiles, birds and more. Perform job duties in compliance with departmental, safety and personnel policies. Attend required training classes as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Display professionalism, positivity, friendliness, and sound judgment in interactions with staff, volunteers and the public Able to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks at one time, and to work well both as a team and in a self-directed environment. Have demonstrated customer service experience and skills. Be outgoing and comfortable talking with members of the public. Skilled in cashier duties, i.e. Cash handling, accurate customer transactions, balancing till and reconciling receipts. Be able to apply good judgment and decision-making skills on a wide variety of issues regarding Kitsap Humane Society policies and procedures. Have experience working with Microsoft Office, email and mobile devices. Be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with people of all backgrounds. Be positive and open minded towards progressive animal welfare strategies and policies. Be able to understand and implement oral and written instructions. Have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and clean driving record. Be flexible around our scheduling needs. This position requires that you work one weekend day, and some holidays. Ability to lift 50lbs or more unassisted.
