The New York Center for Interpersonal Development is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the improvement of human relationships and the strengthening of communities through providing mediation, conciliation, restorative practices, and youth development. Working closely with the program coordinator and with ongoing support from NYCID's Community Dispute Resolution Center Staff, the Conflict Resolution Trainer/Facilitator will work in schools throughout the city to help bring peer mediation programs to students and staff. We are hiring for this position that will have a start date around October, 2026

▪ Part time, Minimum 2 days a week with the possibility of more hours

▪ Work with NYCID staff to co-facilitate in person peer mediation trainings during school hours

▪ Facilitate coaching sessions with students and adults as needed

▪ Engage the school community around the benefits and possibilities of restorative approaches to managing conflict including mediation, peer mediation, conflict coaching and restorative circles, and effectively engage and train others in those approaches

▪ Participate in meetings and workshops as required.

▪ Participate in Adult mediation trainings as needed

▪ Complete mediation training and provide mediation services as needed

▪ Willing and able to travel throughout the 5 boroughs

Preferred Qualifications:

▪ Knowledge, training and experience in conflict resolution, restorative and youth justice and mediation practices

▪ Experienced and proven ability to work effectively in a diverse environment

▪ Experience facilitating workshops for youth and adults

▪ Motivated to work with young people

▪ Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

▪ Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and show individual initiative

▪ Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and independently

▪ Ability to pass background check for NYC Department of Education

▪ Spanish speaking is a plus

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience

Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
