Job Description
Description The Fairfield County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, seeks an independent, competent, and professional individual with strong research and writing skills to serve as a Staff Attorney/Bailiff for Judge David A. Trimmer. In addition to excellent research and writing skills, candidates must have equally strong "people skills," as the position involves spending most of the time in the courtroom with the Judge, litigants, and visitors. The position is open to attorneys licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio or to individuals sitting for the July 2026 Bar Examination. Duties Research legal issues and prepare draft entries for the Judge and Magistrate in civil and criminal matters Prepare jury instructions for civil and criminal cases as re quested by the Judge Prepare plea paperwork and disposition entries File court documents as necessary Manage courtroom security and the timely operation of the Court's daily docket Maintain the Court's record via the audio recording system Declare the entry of the Judge and call and escort witnesses into the courtroom Maintain exhibits Serve as a liaison among the Court, attorneys, litigants, jurors, and the public Perform other functions necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the Court Qualifications Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio or be sitting for the July 2026 Bar Examination.
