Job Duration•dependent on Operation Lone Star grant approval Qualifications Acceptable Experience and Education Knowledge of law enforcement and courtroom procedures and policies; knowledge of basic legal terminology; knowledge of the operation and care of small firearms; knowledge of first aid and CPR procedures Ability to properly ensure effective security and decorum in a courtroom; ability to analyze courtroom situations in an effective manner and make prudent decisions concerning security; ability to react quickly and calmly during emergencies; ability to manage disruptive or aggressive individuals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to operate computers, radios, security and office equipment; ability to perform first aid and CPR in accordance with training and accepted procedures Skill in oral/written communication and interpersonal relations Prolonged periods of standing; periodic walking, bending, and reaching; occasional running and physical effort to apprehend and/or control individuals; subject to verbal abuse, physical assault, and other potentially dangerous situations; visual acuity, hearing ability, and manual dexterity required License as a Peace Officer from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Required to provide own weapon(s) as specified by Judge Possess a valid, unrestricted (except eyeglass wear) state drivers license Reliably commute to and from Kinney, Val Verde and Terrell County (Required) Responsibilities Under general supervision of the District Court Coordinator and the District Court Bailiff, maintains order and decorum of the court during hearings and trials; performs related duties as assigned Opens courtroom and checks security and cleanliness Announces entrance and exit of judge Enforces courtroom rules of behavior and order Ensures safety and security of judge, court staff and jury members Restrains, removes and/or arrests individuals in the courtroom, as appropriate Fingerprints defendants as needed Provides jury escort to restaurants, housing accommodations, and other areas outside the courtroom as needed Checks persons entering the courtroom and ascertains the reason for their presence in the courtroom Assists with the routing and signing of legal documents within the courtroom Assists attorneys and others in locating proper courtroom and other facilities Attends training, seminars, and meetings; performs other duties as assigned The list of responsibilities is
