Reporting to the Probate Judge. A Court Officer is responsible for, but not limited to, providing safety and security for the judge, courtroom personnel and others in the courtroom. Primary Functions Provides safety and security for the judge, courtroom personnel and others in the courtroom by maintaining order and security, recognizing and handling potential problems, supervising inmate movement and making arrests when necessary. Handles and controls the court docket. Coordinates jury panels by transporting jurors, assisting with seating, striking the jury list, retrieving witnesses and maintaining security outside the jury room during deliberations. Researches outstanding warrants and processes defendants who do not appear. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess a level of education equivalent to four years of high school. Requires at least two years of experience in Law Enforcement. Must have Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Certification. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Texas Operator's Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Candidates will be required to work with the Collin County Sheriff's Office to complete the required steps for their TCOLE Peace Officer license to be held by the Sheriff's Office.
