Job Description

Position:
Shift Supervisor General Responsibilities:
To provide daily care of residents in the facility, following all criteria set by the State Manual and Executive Director, Director of Security, Facility Security Manager, the Head of Security (Annex) and Supervisor Coordinators with the implementation of the rules and policies set by the State of Tennessee. A Shift Supervisor needs to be present on the floor at meals. There should be a 2nd Shift Supervisor outside while residents are having recreation while their assistant/ assigned assistant is inside. B Shift Supervisor is also tasked with ensuring that everything is together for the residents' home-passes (clothes, meds, etc.). 3rd Shift Supervisor needs to ensure the laundry room is open and YSO office is open for dayshift to clock in (if at Wayne Halfway House, Inc). The 3rd Shift Supervisor needs to be present on the floor during mealtimes.
Duties:
1. Perform intake on new residents and keep daily logs. 2. Participate in reporting and handling of crisis situations while maintaining discipline following State guidelines. 3. Establish a good rapport with the residents and teach them independent living skills. 4. Provide transportation for residents, if needed, and maintain knowledge of community recourses. 5. Monitor residents for a safe environment at this facility. 6. Coordinate staff on medication issuance. 7. Provide mentoring and training while ensuring that the YSO's are working withing the guidelines of the therapeutic milieu to provide support to the residents. 8. Give performance reviews of all Youth Service Officers on your shift. 9. Ensure that all staff conducts themselves in a firm, non-offensive, professional manner on shift. 10. Make sure that all property that enters the facility with a resident is immediately tagged with the residents' name (even if inventory has not been completed). 11. Follow all applicable policies of

Participate in the PQI Program as requested. 13. Demonstrate competence in cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity. 14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor. 15. Coordinate a safe and secure environment for the residents and residents' visitors during visitation hours. 16. Ensure SIR, Disciplinary Write-ups and proper notifications are done on all applicable incidents. 17. Ensure a room search is completed on 1st and 2nd shifts. 18. Conduct monthly fire and tornado drills as required. 19. Ensure Pass-Down Notes are done for each shift. 20. Ensure security checks are done as required by Policy and Procedure.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must be at least 21 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED. At least 2 years' experience in a Supervisory Position in corrections preferred.
