Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Detention Officer / Jailer and play a vital role in maintaining safety, security, and order within Detention Center. In this dynamic position, you will oversee inmate supervision, enforce correctional policies, and respond effectively to emergencies. Your proactive approach and commitment to safety will ensure a secure environment for staff, inmates, and visitors alike. This role offers an engaging opportunity to serve the community while developing valuable skills in law enforcement and correctional operations. Duties Supervise incarcerated individuals to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations. Conduct regular inmate counts, headcounts, and security checks using Guardain System and direct observation. Respond swiftly to emergency situations, applying correctional restraint procedures, self-defense techniques, and emergency response protocols such as first aid and CPR. Write detailed reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities following correctional facility standards. Manage conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to handle inmate disputes or disruptive behavior effectively. Assist with manual handling tasks and heavy lifting when transferring or managing inmates or supplies.
Requirements Proven experience working with incarcerated individuals or in law enforcement environments. Knowledge of criminal justice policies, correctional policy compliance, and inmate behavior management techniques. Ability to operate CCTV surveillance systems and apply security protocols diligently. Certification in first aid, CPR, Taser use, and emergency response readiness is highly desirable. Strong conflict management skills with the ability to apply law enforcement techniques such as application of force and correctional restraint procedures safely. Physical fitness to perform heavy lifting, manual handling, and maintain alertness during long shifts. Background in military service or security roles is advantageous but not mandatory.
