Overview Join our dedicated team as a Correctional Officer at Suwannee Correctional Institution, where your role is vital in maintaining a safe, secure, and humane environment within the correctional facility. This position offers an exciting opportunity to serve the community by ensuring the safety of staff, inmates, and visitors while upholding the highest standards of security and professionalism. As a Correctional Officer, you will be at the forefront of law enforcement within a correctional setting, actively engaging in security operations, emergency response, and inmate supervision. Your proactive approach and commitment to safety will help foster a secure environment conducive to rehabilitation and order. Responsibilities Monitor inmate activity through CCTV surveillance systems to prevent disturbances and ensure compliance with facility rules. Conduct regular patrols of the facility to oversee inmate behavior, enforce security protocols, and identify potential safety hazards. Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies using first aid, CPR, Taser deployment, or other law enforcement tools as needed. Manage conflict situations through conflict management techniques and self-defense skills to de-escalate tense encounters safely. Write detailed reports documenting incidents, inmate behavior, security breaches, and daily activities to maintain accurate records. Enforce criminal justice policies and facility regulations while supervising inmate movements and activities. Perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting during searches or transportation of supplies or inmates while maintaining safety standards. Experience Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, or security roles demonstrating strong discipline and situational awareness. Knowledge of CCTV systems, emergency response procedures, and security protocols essential for maintaining facility safety. Familiarity with criminal justice policies, report writing standards, and conflict management strategies. Training or certification in first aid, CPR, Taser use, self-defense techniques, and manual handling is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively as part of a supervision team overseeing inmate activities while managing stressful situations calmly and professionally. From $22.00 per hour
