Job Description
The Sumter County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Correctional Officer. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising inmates, observing inmates conduct and behavior, directing inmates during work assignments, patrolling the facility, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Minimum Requirements include completion of high school or equivalent. Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Georgia Driver's License. Must be at least 18 years old. Proof of these requirements must be submitted when applying for the position. Must pass P.O.S.T. Certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally within six months of employment.
