Job Description

Job Overview The Correctional Officer plays a vital role in maintaining safety and security within correctional facilities. This position involves overseeing the daily activities of inmates, enforcing rules and regulations, and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and inmates. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism. Duties Supervise inmate activities, including meals, recreation, and work assignments to ensure compliance with facility rules. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to maintain security and identify potential safety hazards. Respond to incidents and emergencies, utilizing conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations. Prepare detailed reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities for record-keeping purposes. Monitor surveillance systems such as CCTV to ensure the safety of the facility. Administer first aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to uphold security protocols. Experience Candidates should possess a background in law enforcement or related fields, with experience in conflict management being highly beneficial. Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred. Familiarity with report writing is essential for documenting incidents accurately. A military background may also be advantageous due to the structured nature of the role. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a secure environment while exhibiting professionalism at all times.
