As a Correctional Officer , you'll work directly with Idaho's incarcerated population, ensuring the safety and security of our facilities while serving as a role model for positive change. Responsibilities:

As a Correctional Officer , you will: Provide safety and security while controlling, directing, and monitoring incarcerated individuals. Maintain facility security and control movement in accordance with department procedures. Respond to emergencies and assist with daily operations. Conduct inmate counts, maintain logbooks, and complete reports with accuracy and attention to detail. Escort and transport incarcerated individuals and property within facilities or to outside locations. Conduct searches of property, housing units, and individuals to ensure security. Serve as a role model , maintaining professional boundaries and reinforcing positive behavior change. The IDOC values integrity, respect, teamwork, problem solving, and a positive attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify, you must: Be a U.S. citizen Be at least 18 years of age Possess a high school diploma or GED Meet entrance requirements established by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy for correctional officers (IDAPA Rules) Have experience using a personal computer to enter, retrieve, and edit information Not be currently on felony or misdemeanor probation Be eligible to own/possess or receive a firearm under state and federal law Successfully pass a background investigation (follow the link to complete the background questionnaire) Pass an aptitude test (follow the link to complete the test)
