Responsibilities:

Correctional officers provide safety and security, while assisting in controlling, directing, and monitoring incarcerated individuals' activities and movement. This includes maintaining security of the institution and controlling movement within the institution in accordance with established department methods and procedures. Additionally, correctional officers role model appropriate interactions and reinforce positive behavior change among incarcerated individuals. The Department envisions a safer Idaho with fewer people in its correctional system and values integrity, respect, and positive attitude. As such, successful candidates for correctional officer will possess these character traits, along with problem solving skills, teamwork, and the desire to impact positive change.
