Job Description

The Mini-Cassia Juvenile Detention Center is accepting applications for a part-time, Juvenile Detention Officer , not to exceed working 19 hours per week. Employees in this job supervise residents of the Detention Center during their daily activities including school (in-house), recreation, dining, group activities, housekeeping, etc. Juvenile Detention Officers are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all residents of the facility. Juvenile Detention Officers work under the general supervision of a Shift Supervisor and/or the Director and perform their duties in accordance with the Detention Center Policy Manual. Part-time juvenile detention officers must complete an on-line Idaho POST Certification within one year of hire date. Additionally, a part-time juvenile detention officer must participate in 28 hours of relevant training on an annual basis. The Mini-Cassia Juvenile Detention Center provides a safe and secure setting for all residents. The Center provides for the basic necessities of all residents such as proper nutrition, hygiene, rest, exercise, medical care, and education. Additionally, the Center follows a highly structured program designed to hold residents accountable for their behavior by assessing consequences for the violation of Detention Center rules. Must be 21 years of age or older with a clean criminal background. No Felonies. Must be flexible and available to work random shifts that include days, swings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
