Job Description

JUVENILE CUSTODY OFFICERS
The Red River Valley Juvenile Center (RRVJC) in Crookston MN is hiring for the position of Juvenile Custody Officer to work with juveniles in a residential and secure setting. No experience necessary and all training provided. Advancement opportunities within the agency!
SALARY Information:
Effective January 1, 2026, starting salary of $23.57/hour with no experience required. Wage increases to $24.51/hour upon completion of 6 months of employment. Additional wage increases to $25.49/hour upon completion of first 12 months of employment. The hourly rate of pay does not include multiple wage/salary enhancements which significantly increase the average rate of pay! Additional compensation for shift differential, shift briefing, staff meetings, OT and holiday pay. Wage/salary enhancements and holiday pay add approximately $2.50/hour on average to the hourly rate of pay over the course of a full year. 11 Paid Holidays/Year No experience needed; training provided Must be minimum of 21 years of age or enrolled in or completed course work in post-secondary education pursuing a degree in a behavioral science. Requirements:
Strong writing and people skills required; must be passionate about helping children; ability to work independently; possess basic computer skills; must be available to work day and evening/night (12) hour shifts and at times on short notice. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and active automobile insurance coverage, unless waived by the Executive Director.
Training in the use of:
Defensive Tactics; Report Writing; Restraint Devices; Emergency Procedures; Communication Skills; Resident Transports and many other topics. Duties include but are not limited to: Resident supervision; searches; well-being checks; admission & release of residents; meal delivery and medication delivery.
Education:
High School diploma or GED required; Minimum of 21 years of age or enrolled in or completed course work in post-secondary education pursuing a degree in a behavioral science. "An Equal Opportunity Employer"
