Full Time Halifax, NC Halifax County Sheriff Salary:
$50,017 - $55,994.Position Summary:
The Detention Officer I is responsible for the supervision, transportation, and security of inmates housed within the Halifax County Detention Facility. Work involves admitting and booking inmates, preparing inmates for transport and court or medical facilities, feeding inmates, and supervising all other activity by inmates. Work also involves preparing computerized reports and logs, periodic searches, maintaining security, and counseling and advising inmates as needed. Work also requires operating a computer management system and overseeing control and surveillance centers within the facility. Work is performed in accordance with the policies and procedures, North Carolina Department of Human Resources guidelines, and the Training and Standards Council of the Department of Justice of North Carolina. Work is performed under the direct supervision of that employee's supervisor. The applicant must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts which includes holidays and weekends.Requirements:
Graduation from high school / GED. Be at least 21 years of age. Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license. Be a United States citizen. Ability to obtain certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards Commission.https:
