About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is hiring Correctional Officers to maintain safety, security, and supervision within state correctional facilities. This position offers paid training, stable employment, and advancement opportunities within public safety.
Duties Include:
- Maintain safety, custody, and supervision of offenders
- Conduct searches of offenders, visitors, cells, and facility areas for contraband
- Monitor offender activity in person and through surveillance systems
- Maintain offender counts, housing assignments, and required records
- Escort offenders within and outside the facility
- Supervise offender work assignments

Salary Range:
$42,512- $55,317 Work Schedule Information Employees must be able to work any shift including rotating, fixed shift, or split shift.
