Job Description
Under general supervision of the Dean of Correctional Programs. This position is responsible for teaching the basic skills needed to start and manage a small business operation, such as developing a business plan, marketing, basic accounting, financial management, inventory control, production control, negotiating, loan/funding acquisition and management, workforce development, human resources management, and legal compliance. The instructor will prepare and teach assigned classes and fulfill other duties as needed. Instructor will also perform normal duties associated with the education of inmates, excluding any and/or all correctional officer duties. This course will be taught inside the Avery/Mitchell Correctional Facility Class schedule is Monday - Thursday from 7:30am to 3:30pm for a total of 28 hours a week (this includes a 1-hour lunchbreak) Rate of pay is dependent on education and experience. Teach assigned classes, develop and update curriculum, develop and maintain syllabi for classes within the department and provide a copy to students the first week of class, provide classroom and course management in a manner that is consistent with appropriate professional conduct, and maintain accuracy in all paperwork, class rosters and submit same in the manner required by the department Dean and Correctional education staff.
