Position Summary The Correctional Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and order of a correctional facility. This role ensures the care, custody, and control of incarcerated individuals while upholding legal and departmental standards. Correctional Officers promote a safe environment through supervision, communication, and adherence to established policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Enforce facility rules, regulations, and state/local laws to maintain order and security. Supervise inmate activities, including movement, programs, recreation, work assignments, and meals. Conduct regular security inspections of housing units, common areas, and work sites. Perform inmate counts, searches of persons and living quarters, and security screenings. Respond to emergencies such as disturbances, medical incidents, fights, or fire alarms. Prepare accurate and timely reports, logs, and documentation related to daily operations and incidents. Escort inmates within the facility and during outside transport, ensuring compliance with security protocols. Monitor inmate behavior, identify potential safety risks, and intervene according to training. Maintain professional communication with inmates, staff, and external stakeholders. Participate in ongoing training, including defensive tactics, de‑escalation, first aid, and facility procedures. Support rehabilitative, educational, and behavioral programming by promoting a structured environment.

Pay:

$25.12 - $35.06 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
