Detention Officer

Job Summary The Correctional Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within correctional facilities. This position involves overseeing the daily activities of inmates, enforcing rules and regulations, and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and inmates. The ideal candidate will possess strong conflict management skills, the ability to handle emergency situations, and a commitment to upholding the law. Duties Monitor inmate behavior and enforce facility rules to maintain order and security. Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including monitoring CCTV systems for suspicious activities. Respond promptly to emergencies, applying first aid and CPR as necessary. Prepare detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and daily activities. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to ensure compliance with legal standards. Participate in training sessions related to security protocols, conflict management, and emergency response. Maintain effective communication with fellow officers and facility staff to promote a cohesive work environment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is preferred. Previous experience in law enforcement, military service, or security roles is advantageous. Strong understanding of conflict management techniques and the ability to de-escalate tense situations. Proficiency in report writing to document incidents accurately and comprehensively. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in emergency response is a plus. Ability to work shifts as required by the facility's operational needs. Must pass background checks and meet all legal requirements for employment as a Correctional Officer. This position requires individuals who are dedicated to maintaining safety and security while demonstrating professionalism at all times.
