Job Title Correctional Officer Overview We are hiring a dedicated Correctional Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and humane correctional environment. The ideal candidate is observant, calm under pressure, and committed to professional standards. This role combines direct supervision, incident response, and documentation to protect staff, inmates, and the public. Key Responsibilities Supervise inmate movement, activities, and programs to ensure compliance with facility rules. Monitor the facility using rounds and CCTV systems to detect and deter safety risks. Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents. Document incidents, daily logs, and observations with clear, accurate reports. De-escalate conflicts using proven conflict management and communication techniques. Coordinate with law enforcement and internal teams during security operations. Follow established security protocols and participate in ongoing training to maintain readiness. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license. Clean criminal background and ability to pass a comprehensive background check. Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain certification. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CCTV monitoring and basic security technology. Background in law enforcement, corrections, or military service. Proven report writing and documentation skills. Training or experience in conflict resolution and crisis intervention. Working Conditions and Requirements Shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical duties that may include standing, walking, and occasional physical intervention. Candidates must meet all legal and agency requirements for employment in corrections, including any state-specific eligibility rules and financial checks required by law.
