$83,340
  • $ 112,092 Annually This position is represented by the Teamsters 117 bargaining unit.
The candidate of choice must be comfortable working in a Prison environment as you will be required to work in facility daily. The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a skilled professional to oversee the incarcerated individual disciplinary hearing process at Clallam Bay Corrections Center. This position is responsible for administering hearings in accordance with Washington Administrative Code (WAC), DOC policies, and local operational memorandums, ensuring hearings are conducted timely, consistently, and in compliance with established requirements. As a first-line supervisor, this position provides direction, coaching, and performance management to two staff members while overseeing the workflow of the Hearings Department and maintaining control of evidence. The position also reviews and updates policies and procedures, identifies opportunities for process improvement, drafts correspondence, and supports staff training related to infractions, hearings, and procedural changes. As a Corrections Specialist 3 , some of your duties will include: Assuming responsibility for the overall administration of the incarcerated individual disciplinary hearings at Clallam Bay Corrections Center. Apply thorough knowledge of WACs, Department of Correction's Policies and Local Operational memorandums to administer incarcerated individual hearings and determine appropriate sanctions. Conduct incarcerated individual hearings within appropriate timeframes. Plan, organize and control the workflow of the Hearings Department. Maintain control of evidence presented at the hearings to include storage and destruction Providing first-line supervision to one (1) Corrections Officer and one (1) Corrections Specialist Assistant Reviewing drafts and updating of policies and procedures for the incarcerated individual hearings process Providing input or acts as lead for staff training regarding writing infractions, hearing process improvement, or change Other duties as assigned What we need (required qualifications): Four years of corrections experience Work must include interactions and contact with the incarcerated population. What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications): Bachelor's Degree and four years of professional experience in adult or juvenile corrections, social services or closely related field Additional qualifying experience may substitute, year for year, for up to two years of the desired education A Master's degree will substitute for one year of experience.

Telework Details This position may be allocated for telework. If authorized for the role, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a "drop in" area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
