Job Description

The state's leading news organization, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeks an organized, meticulous reporter to cover federal courts in Arkansas' capital city. We are looking for a journalist who knows the court system, who is skilled in tracking the big cases and who is relentlessly accurate. We want a reporter who will work the courthouse and develop sources that will help carry him or her past the routine coverage to the accountability journalism that is our calling card. This is not a job for someone who's always wanted to try journalism. We are looking for a professional, someone who either has received journalism training and worked for a school news organization or who's already working in the field and has experience covering the courts, preferably the latter. We want someone we can trust to get it right and write it well. If that sounds like you, send a cover letter, resume and three of your best clips to Executive Editor Lee Wolverton at lwolverton@adgnewsroom.com.
The subject line should read:
Federal Courts Reporter. Clips should be readily accessible in a pdf format, Word file or through a linked portfolio. Applicants whose clips cannot be accessed, either because they are behind a paywall or for some other reason, will not be considered.
