Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting student learning by leveraging your expertise as an Assistive Technology Specialist and Braillist. In this position, you will collaborate closely with educators to implement and maintain adaptive technology solutions, ensuring accessibility and fostering independence for students with visual impairments.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proven experience as an Assistive Technology Specialist, particularly with devices and software tailored to individuals with visual impairments Proficiency in Braille transcription and tactile graphic production Strong understanding of accessibility standards and federal guidelines for educational materials Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills Experience providing training and technical support to staff and students preferred Relevant certification or coursework in Assistive Technology and/or Braille literacy is highly advantageous
Responsibilities:
Assess student needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology devices, software, and supports Transcribe educational materials into Braille, produce tactile graphics, and maintain Braille equipment Train students and staff in the use of adaptive devices and accessible materials Collaborate with educators on individualized education plans (IEPs) to ensure effective inclusion of technology solutions Remain current on best practices and new developments in assistive technology and Braille instruction Troubleshoot, maintain, and update devices as needed to guarantee accessibility for all users This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' lives while working in an environment that values innovation and expertise in accessibility.
