Job Description
Perform a variety of laboratory tests and related analyses to assist in crime detection; collect, analyze and compare evidence for forensic application. Identify physiological fluids including blood and semen and determine appropriate species; type fluids in hematological groups. Make microscopic comparisons of variations in ballistics and tool marks. Identify and make comparisons of paint, glass, minerals, fibers and other items. Perform analysis of drugs, poisons, fillers and related materials. Perform handwriting analysis to determine whether authentic or forged; detect erasures, additions and alterations in handwriting; make comparisons of paper and writing. Basic principles and practices and practices of criminal investigations, identification and analysis. Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to evidence, arrest and prosecution of criminals. Safe work practices and occupational hazards of the job.
