Criminal Records Section Supervisor - Idaho State Police ISP
Job Description
Idaho State Police - Meridian, Idaho Statewide Opportunity Applications will be accepted through 4:59 PM MST on the posting end date. This recruitment is to fill two vacancies within the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI): Bureau of Auditing and Training (BAT) Unit - this position will supervise the BCI Auditing and Training (BAT) Team, directing staff and activities associated with the Idaho Public Safety and Security Information System (ILETS), Missing Persons, Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) and the National Incident-based Reporting System (NIBRS), Non-Criminal Justice/Applicant agency, and Criminal History Record Quality Assurance programs. The candidate will conduct audit and training as the Idaho Moderator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Data Exchange (N-DEx). This position is also responsible for the overall planning and execution of the annual ILETS Conference. The candidate must have strong supervisory experience working in a dynamic environment, with a diverse group of subject matter experts, who travel frequently throughout Idaho. ILETS Control Center Unit - this position will supervise the
BCI ILETS
Control Center, directing staff and associated activities. This candidate will ensure 100% staff coverage of a 24/7-hour support center which assists customers statewide. This candidate will oversee the operability of ILETS, report outages, and provide vendor support in troubleshooting, modifications, and upgrades. This candidate will supervise staff that are responsible for creating and modifying CPI Openfox Messenger terminals, user accounts, and license keys. Additionally, the ILETS Control center monitors the Meridian Idaho State Police (ISP) campus cameras, create employee badges, and provides door and gate access as requested.

Example of duties:
1. Administration.
Typical responsibilities:
hires staff; assigns work, sets priorities, and evaluates performance; develops and implements operational policies and procedures; develops and conducts training; reviews and standardizes work procedures; designs forms; acts as records custodian; establishes policy on records retention, maintenance, and collection of criminal information; works with IT personnel to develop computer programs used to collect data; searches databases for information; responds to questions regarding procedures, policies, and services offered. 2. Program Supervision.
Typical responsibilities:
serves as quality control point for databases involving criminal history, uniform crime data, missing persons and violent persons; designs manual and computer filing systems; ensures uniformity of data; maintains contact with criminal justice agencies statewide to correct and update criminal records, concealed weapons license data, and NCIC records from source documents, advises other agencies on how to obtain confidential background information and on how to identify subjects using commercial, private, and governmental databases; provides reports to the FBI, Bureau of Justice Statistics, and others regarding system operations; serves as liaison with the FBI, local law enforcement agencies, district courts, federal firearms license holders, and the general public concerning various law enforcement related information.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience that demonstrates considerable knowledge of: manual and automated records management systems including performing case management review and analysis.
Experience:
supervising and evaluating performance of others conducting training using personal computer for data management and statistical analyses interpreting, applying, and explaining complex information such as laws, rules and regulations and policies or services related to program operations to ensure compliance with state and federal laws auditing program effectiveness providing technical assistance to staff establishing and maintaining confidential records information Desirable qualifications: ILETS Inquiry and Entry certified knowledge of Operator Aid knowledge of Openfox Messenger experience providing customer service building/creating new terminals and stations handling product/registration/license keys knowledge of Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) online
