Agent:
State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) This position is an Officer role within the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). The successful candidate will investigate a comprehensive range of criminal activities, including homicides, violent crimes, officer-involved critical incidents, cold cases, sexually motivated crimes, complex financial fraud, identity theft, narcotics trafficking, public safety threats, and alcohol law enforcement. Principal Duties Manage high-profile and complex investigations related to deaths/homicides, person and property crime, officer-involved critical incidents, cybercrime, sexual assault, crimes against children, human trafficking, public corruption, fraud, forgery, and other white-collar crimes. Conduct specialized narcotics and interdiction investigations, including undercover operations, surveillance, and the management of confidential informants. Execute alcohol enforcement operations through covert tactics and uniformed suppression to ensure compliance with state laws. Participate on an Evidence Response Team and in the collection and documentation of physical and digital evidence while working closely with the State Crime Lab. Coordinate with other SBI Agents and UHP Troopers to conduct criminal investigations and intelligence-led policing. Oversee operational planning, case debriefings, and the legal execution of search and arrest warrants. Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to synchronize investigative efforts. Coordinate with victim service programs. Represent the Utah Department of Public Safety with professionalism at seminars, task force meetings, and community events. Provide training related to criminal investigations to law enforcement and community members. Network and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications Requirements & Eligibility Requirement to reside within 50 miles of the Calvin Rampton Complex in Taylorsville, UT. Must hold a current Utah Law Enforcement Officer certification Must have 7 years experience as a law enforcement officer, with at least 5 years as a detective or investigator. Position is subject to on-call rotations and after-hours call outs. Candidates must be able to meet the requirements of DPS Policy 505- Personal Appearance Standards Policy; including having no tattoos anywhere on the body that would be visible in a short-sleeved uniform, as well as have no disqualifiers as listed at https://joinuhp.utah.gov/minimum-requirements/ Testing
