Organizational Location:

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in McLean, Virginia. This is a non-bargaining unit position. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within the National Capitol Region (NCR).

Experience:

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Serving as a technical advisor in matters relating to proper collection, preservation, packaging, and submission of criminal evidence; Making recommendations that involve complex and difficult case law decisions that influence the development and modification of significant policies for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; and Preparing, communicating, and reporting examination results and conclusions and illustrative exhibits for court use. Participating in all aspects of the science of friction ridge analysis to include principles, theories, techniques, philosophies, concepts, and practices.

Additional Requirements:

Minimum of a bachelor's degree with a master's degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university. Must have extensive knowledge of laboratory accreditation requirements as set forth by ISO-IEC 17025 and the

for testing and calibration laboratories.

Professional Certification:

Professional Certification as a Latent Print Examiner by the International Association for Identification (IAI), or other approved organization preferred. The incumbent must be certified in latent print examination by the International Association for Identification (IAI) or otherwise possess a current professionally recognized equivalent certification. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
