TITLE:
Crossing Guard
JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide assistance to children crossing the street. Maintain children's safety in traffic.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED preferred
State of Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
No previous experience required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist children crossing streets.
Move 15-mph zone and school crossing signs into and out of the street.
Utilize proper hand signs as required.
Adhere to regulations and guidelines governing school crossings.
Ensure safety of pedestrians using assigned cross walks.
Report problems with students or traffic.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings
Knowledge of traffic control devices
Skill in interacting with the public, especially children
Ability to communicate orally
WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to traffic hazards
Potential physical harm
Exposure to outdoor elements
PHYSICAL EFFORT
May be required to move signs weighing up to 25 lbs. into and out of the street.
