The impact you will have: As a Campus Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive school environment where students can focus on learning and growth. You will build positive relationships with students while monitoring campus activities, reinforcing expectations, and promoting respectful behavior. Through your presence, consistency, and care, you will help create a positive school culture that supports student well-being and contributes to a safe and welcoming campus for all. Who you are:
You are a calm, observant, and student-centered professional who takes pride in keeping school environments safe, orderly, and welcoming. You build rapport easily with students of all ages, communicate clearly and respectfully, and use sound judgment when responding to situations. You are proactive, dependable, and able to remain composed under pressure. You value teamwork, positive school culture, and the opportunity to support students' well-being every day. As a Campus Supervisor, you will be assisting with the leading and managing of campus safety operations and be responsible for (but not limited to): Monitoring student behavior and movement in hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, parking lots, and other campus areas. Promoting and reinforcing positive school culture, including respectful behavior, conflict resolution, and restorative approaches. Building supportive relationships with students, fostering trust, belonging, and open communication. Responding to safety concerns, incidents, or emergencies calmly and appropriately; notifying administrators as needed. Ensuring campus access is safe and secure, monitoring gates, visitors, and general site activity. Communicating effectively with staff, administrators, and families regarding student needs, concerns, or incidents. Supporting arrival, dismissal, and transition times to ensure safe movement of students and traffic flow. Documenting incidents or concerns, maintaining accurate and timely records in accordance with district procedures. Collaborating with school and district staff to address safety, supervision coverage, and student support needs. Serving as a positive role model, maintaining professionalism, fairness, and consistency in all interactions with students and the community.
What you bring:
 Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent.
Roles Available:
Bret Harte Middle 1.0 FTE 10 month 7:45 am - 4:15 pm SB 848 Child Safety & Employment Disclosure Requirement Effective January 1, 2026, in accordance with California Senate Bill 848 (School Employee Misconduct/Child Abuse Prevention Act), applicants for employment with San José Unified are subject to enhanced child safety, training, and employment disclosure requirements. Under SB 848, schools are required to strengthen background vetting procedures and obtain employment history information related to allegations of egregious misconduct involving students. Former employers may be contacted to release records regarding substantiated findings of misconduct as permitted by law. Failure to provide complete and accurate information regarding prior educational employment or relevant misconduct findings may result in disqualification from the hiring process or withdrawal of an offer of employment. SB 848 also expands mandated reporter requirements and requires annual child abuse prevention training for employees and certain volunteers by July 1, 2026. All employees must comply with district-adopted child safety policies, including procedures for supervising and protecting students. San José Unified is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and will review all disclosures and employment records in accordance with state law.
