Crossing Guard Beverly Public Schools - 3.2 Beverly, MA Job Details Part-time From $19.80 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Job Description Responsible for assisting students in safely crossing streets and intersections before and after school Supports student safety by monitoring traffic conditions, promoting safe pedestrian practices and maintaining orderly crossing procedures in designated school areas Base schedule is Monday-Friday, per school year calendar Approximately 10 hours per week Key Responsibilities and Qualifications Each Crossing Guard is issued and is responsible for a yellow vest, yellow gloves and standard stop sign which must be used at all times while on duty Report to assigned corner on time in all weather conditions on days that school is in session Notify Traffic Supervisor Coordinator by 6:30 AM if unable to work due to illness or emergency Refer to school calendar for changes in schedule such as early release days Safely assist students at assigned street crossings before and after school Monitor traffic flow and use appropriate crossing procedures to ensure pedestrian safety Stop and direct traffic as needed in accordance with local and state regulations Promote safe walking habits and reinforce pedestrian safety rules with students Remain alert to unsafe conditions and report concerns, incidents or hazards to appropriate personnel Demonstrate professionalism and positive interactions with students, families, staff and community members Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts Smoking, vaping and cell phone use are prohibited Working Conditions Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to lift, carry, or move light objects as needed Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and traffic conditions Sufficient mobility, vision and hearing to monitor traffic and pedestrian activity safely Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Ability to work effectively with students, families, school staff and the public Ability to remain attentive and exercise sound judgment in a traffic environment Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong communication and interpersonal skills Compensation Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Public Schools Crossing Guard collective bargaining agreement. Employment Eligibility Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
