Job Description

Hourly Pod Support Linden Grove Middle School Monday-Friday 7:45am-3:00pm (Half-day and no-school days following the district calendar) $16.63-$18.84 per hour Scope of Responsibilities Supervise students in the common areas. Help students achieve positive behavior and to address and correct behavior in a constructive and safe manner in accordance with Kalamazoo Public Schools policies, procedures, expectations, educational and treatment goals, safety and security. Performance Responsibilities 1. Provide student supervision to Secondary Education students in areas such as the hallways, gymnasium, cafeteria, locker rooms, bathrooms, lunch room, etc. 2. Assist students with reflections and de-escalation. 3. Escort students in transition (i.e., entering and exiting the building, in the hallways between classes, into and out of breakfast/lunch) as necessary. 4. Communicate with students in a calm, but firm manner 5. Assist in problem solving appropriate strategies. Assist in implementing school and/or classroom rules. 6. Small group activities supervision. 7. Morning and lunch time supervision. 8. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 1. High School Diploma or accredited equivalency. 2. Evidence of effective oral communication skills. 3. Evidence of behavior that demonstrates a positive role model for students. 4. Availability for employment during school hours for the school year. 5. Previous record of good attendance. 6. Ability and willingness to follow guidelines.
