WHITEFISH SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE
Lunch Supervisor/District Support Personnel
REPORTS TO
Building Principal
SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Provides administrative support to instructional staff and leadership to cultivate a constructive learning and work environment. Key duties include supervising the cafeteria during lunch, organizing and monitoring playground activities, and maintaining student safety, order, and discipline in dining and recreational areas. The District expects each staff member will put the safety, health, and well-being of students at the forefront of all actions, job responsibilities, and decisions; perform all duties in alignment with the District's Strategic Plan; and maintain strict confidentiality of employment and student matters.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Background Check:
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check. Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and an understanding, patient, and warm attitude toward children.
Preferred Qualifications:
One or two years of post-high school training or higher education. Successful experience working with school-age children. Current First Aid/CPR training. Basic knowledge of student games and their rules.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(including but not limited to): Student Supervision & Environment Supervise students in lunch areas, during recess, and during campus transitions to ensure safety and orderly behavior. Enforce lunch area, playground, and campus behavior standards firmly, fairly, and consistently. Assist students with mealtime needs and help maintain clean, sanitary, and inviting cafeteria, classroom, and playground spaces. Behavioral Support & Development Promote positive social behavior using proactive, district-approved strategies, acting as a positive role model. Acknowledge and reinforce desirable student behavior while helping to foster student self-confidence. Resolve minor conflicts, use good judgment in student interactions, and document/report special or serious behavioral patterns to the school principal or designee using appropriate referral forms. Health, Safety & Compliance Strictly adhere to Montana OPI and USDA food safety guidelines. Administer basic first aid, report injuries or illnesses immediately, and manage emergency communication with office personnel and parents. Professional Conduct & Clerical Support Exhibit strong time management, organizational skills, and routine record-keeping. Perform routine clerical tasks or light typing to support instructional personnel as assigned. Work cooperatively and maintain professional, patient, and receptive relationships with students, staff, custodians, food service personnel, parents, and the general public.
EQUIPMENT USED
A variety of electronic and technology devices, copier, telephone/voice mail system, and school communication radios.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works both inside and outside in various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand; twist at neck and waist; kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are usually unavailable. The employee must maintain attentiveness intensity. The employee may be involved in social interactions which require oral and written communications. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employed for prescribed term, salary, benefits and other working conditions to be determined by District Policy, Federal and State Law as well as appropriate funding from state, federal, and/or passage of levies.
Schedule:
Part-time, roughly 2 to 3 hours daily, matching the school calendar (Monday-Friday).
