Job Description

Description Be a Local Hero - Keep Greensboro's Students Safe! Do you want a role where your presence truly makes a difference every single day? The City of Greensboro is looking for School Crossing Guards to help ensure the safety of children and families traveling to and from school. This is a meaningful way to serve your community while working flexible, part-time hours.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday. Morning shift for 1 hour between 7 am and 9 am. Afternoon shift for 1 hour between 2 pm and 4 pm.

About the Role As a School Crossing Guard , you will: Escort children and adults safely across designated school crosswalks; Monitor traffic flow and help maintain safety during arrival and dismissal times; Communicate clearly with students, families, and drivers; Be a reliable, trustworthy presence that the community can count on. This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Important Information About Roster Positions Thank you for considering a roster position with the City of Greensboro! These positions are an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to our community. Please review the details below to ensure you understand the nature of roster employment:
Hourly Employment :
Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
Limited Hours :
Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12-month period.
Pension System :
Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city's pension system. While roster positions do not include benefits, they are often a pathway to full-time, benefited employment with the City. Many of our current full-time employees started in roster positions, and we encourage you to explore this opportunity as a potential first step in your career with us. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to carry a portable "STOP" sign and walk
