This opportunity is at Belleville Public Schools Lunch Aide An ESS Lunch Aide & Substitute Lunch Aide worker plays an integral role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment, during lunchtime and recess (outdoor or indoor). This role is for Monday-Friday, generally 10:30am - 1:30pm (3 Hours). Hours may vary by school location. Responsibilities in Cafeteria Perform all duties assigned by school administration in the active supervision of students during lunchtime, and while at recess (outdoor or indoor).

Maintain a clean environment:

which may include wiping down tables, making sure the floor is free of discarded food items or trash. Ensures a safe and orderly environment, while assisting students with materials, managing student behavior, and creating a positive experience. Oversee students in the cafeteria, hallways, and play areas, ensuring that rules are followed, while reporting serious infractions. Circulates among the tables during the mealtime so as to be available to children who need help or resolve problems that arise. Assist in establishing, implementing and supervising orderly disposal of food waste, return of trays and dismissal from the cafeteria. Lunch Aides must display patience, a positive attitude, and strong communication skills. Must display a strong ability to work well with children and staff. Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment. Must have a strong understanding of basic hygiene and safety. Perform other duties as directed by school administration and/or ESS. Recess:

Supervise students and maintain a cooperative atmosphere during recess. Provide playground equipment and assume responsibility for daily storage after the playground period. Assist in organizing various play activities and games as approved by building administration. Supervise dismissal of students from the playground area. Inform building administration immediately of any serious disciplinary problems. Keep building administration informed of any safety concerns. Establish and maintain a safe environment during recess.

Physical Demands:

Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job. Persons performing services in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time. Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision. Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls.
