Responsible for assisting students crossing streets going to and from school at an assigned post. Provide a safe and secure crosswalk for students. The Crossing Guard must exercise considerable vigilance in directing traffic and watching that students cross streets properly and have the ability to work independently.Responsibilities:
- Assist students in crossing the streets going to and from school at an assigned post.
- Direct traffic at the school crossing.
- Provide a safe and secure crosswalk for all students.
- Enforce all district and school policies and rules in the operation of the crosswalk.
- Abide by and enforce all laws dealing with pedestrian traffic at the crosswalk.
- Report any problems or safety concerns arising at the assigned crosswalk to the Director of Transportation. Knowledge, skills and capabilities:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to withstand exposure to all weather conditions.
- Comfortable interacting with students of all ages.
- Willing to work a split shift.
- Must be reliable and able to work 5 days per week over the 180 day school year.
- Age prerequisite: 18 years or older.
